Haiti – to be or not to be?

You’ll be glad to hear that the answer is – to be! Haiti legalisation is now available, albeit through the Haitian Consulate in Belgium.  After much toing and froing and lots of conflicting advice from a variety of sources - sometimes the same source - we’ve managed to crack the code. It can be a rather timely process, but the important thing is that it is possible!

In essence there are three steps required in order for a document to be fully legalised:

1.)    Obtain apostille from the UK FCO;

2.)    Obtain certification from the British Consulate in Belgium; and

3.)    Obtain legalisation from the Haiti Consulate in Belgium (be prepared to brush up on your French if you’re going to attempt this part yourself – better still get us to do it!).

The whole process is likely to take between three to four weeks depending on whether you opt for the standard or premium FCO service.
